Although the Shire is currently in the Restricted Burning Period (until 26th April 2019), no Permits to Burn are being issued until after midnight on Monday 22nd April 2019 due to a combination of lack of moisture in the soil and also reduced volunteer firefighter availability over Easter.
The Chief Bush Fire Control Officer and the Shire President, under the authority delegated to them jointly by Council, have however considered that as soil moisture levels are still expected to be low, it is appropriate to extend the Restricted Burning Period for a further 14 days until Friday 10th May 2019.
As such, Permits to Burn will still be required until 10th May 2019 and the public is required to contact their local Fire Control Officer.
