East Gippsland Shire Council’s Betka Road, Mallacoota footpath project is ahead of schedule.
Works are being undertaken by local contractor B Palmer and are expected to be finished in May.
The new section of footpath, costing approximately $70,000, will stretch 285 metres and will link the footpath opposite the bowls club to the gravel path at Mortimers Reserve.
Acting Director Operations Fiona Weigall said the project will improve pedestrian safety in the area.
“To complement the footpath, pram crossings will be installed at each approach to the Mortimers pathway,” Ms Weigall said.
“Council has received positive feedback on the project so far and it is pleasing to see it progressing ahead of schedule.”
