Students to find their rhythm, voice

Local school children will participate in an annual celebration of musical creativity at the Kerang Memorial Hall next month.

Kerang Music Society, Gannawarra Shire Council and Northern District Community Health unite to support the 2019 edition of Rhythm and Voice, occurring on Friday, 3 May.

Now in its fourth year, the day’s events will involve primary school students learning new musical skills and a singing together as a massed choir.

“Bendigo-based specialist music educators, Peter Butler and Jenni Heinrich, will oversee the day’s workshops before the school children showcase their efforts in a community performance during the afternoon,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“The event will involve grade three to grade six primary school students from across the Shire and beyond.”

Residents are invited to attend the free community concert, scheduled to begin at 1.10pm.

“The concert provides a great opportunity for students to share what they have learnt with their families and the wider community,” Mayor Learmonth said.

Rhythm and Voice is supported by FReeZA – a Victorian Government initiative, Kerang Music Society and Gannawarra Shire Council.
