Cairns Regional Council staff will have the opportunity to vote on a wage offer next month, with an agreement reached between Council management and relevant unions.

Following discussions last month, unions have agreed to allow all employees to vote on a two-year Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA), which will expire in mid-2021.

The current offer is:

1 July 2018    2.5% (2% already paid) plus a $2500 lump sum payment in recognition of the six-year lapse since the expiry of the previous EBA.1 July 2019    2% or CPI whichever is the greatest1 July 2020    2% or CPI whichever is the greatestAll other conditions remain unchanged from the current agreement

The draft agreement will be finalised and made available to employees ahead of the vote which is likely to be mid-May.
