Bullsbrook residents will have a faster and safer way to access Northlink with the recent announcement of a $14.79 million grant for Stock Road.
The road upgrade and new bridge will connect Great Northern Highway to the new Northlink Highway and will open up new opportunities for industrial and commercial developments in the area.
Federal Member for Pearce, Hon. Christian Porter, welcomed the funding announcement, saying the positive impacts of this critical piece of infrastructure should not be understated.
“This project will not only mean faster and safer travel in and out of our communities, it will also help unlock the economic potential of the entire region,” Mr Porter said.
“The Stock Road Connection will provide a critical link to the billion dollar NorthLink WA project, and importantly, allow the South Bullsbrook Industrial Precinct and the Bullsbrook Intermodal Freight Terminal to be developed.
City of Swan Mayor David Lucas also welcomed the funding, which will provide a 50% contribution to the overall cost of the project.
“This grant is a great result for the City and will certainly help the local economy as well as creating employee opportunities in the area,” he said.
“The project will also create better access for those living in the Bullsbrook town site and help to alleviate some of the road safety concerns on sections of the Great Northern Highway.”
Pearce Ward Councillor Patty Jones said the funding was reward for the City’s continued advocacy strategy to both State and Federal Government.
“As Councillors we work tirelessly to find ways to reduce the reliance on rates for our infrastructure projects, and this continued commitment has now saved ratepayers nearly $15 million,” she said.
“I congratulate everyone involved in the submission for funding as this is a major achievement for the City.”
The City will now undertake design works before proceeding into construction.
