Safety works to commence at Cororooke intersection

Colac Otway Shire Council will commence safety upgrade works next week at the intersection of Sheehan’s Road and Kenny’s Lane, Cororooke.

The Cororooke intersection will be closed to general traffic while works are undertaken.

General Manager of Infrastructure and Leisure Services Tony McGann said safety works would include a centre island in Kenny’s Lane and installation of a guardrail.

“Council will add a centre island to Kenny’s Lane with a new ‘Give Way’ sign to be installed and also ‘Give Way Ahead’ which will be located 80 metres from the intersection.

“A 25 metre guardrail will also be installed opposite the centre island on Sheehan’s Road. Line markings through the intersection will also be updated and repainted.

“The intersection will be closed to public traffic for the duration of works taking place, which is expected to be from the end of April to the end of May, subject to favourable weather conditions.

“During the time the intersection is closed, local residents will still have access to properties that adjoin the intersection.

“The intersection is a part of the school bus route, however the contractor will not detour school buses, buses will be allowed access through the site while works are being undertaken.

“Traffic management will be in place to minimise disruption, and as with any road works, we ask the community to take care and observe road signs in place,” Mr McGann said.

“We thank the community for their patience while these important safety works are undertaken.”

If any member of the community wants further information regarding this project, they can contact Council on 5232 9400.
