The music was loud, the beer was cold and the flies, thankfully, were not quite as friendly as they were last year.
One of the premier music festivals in a crowded field of stellar outback events kicked off in style in the small town of Winton on Friday night.
Thousands poured into Winton in western Queensland to check out some of the best rock and country music acts going around.
Winton, which has a population a tick under a thousand, was all but booked out for the event with local pubs heaving and as many as 6000 visitors coming through town.
The Friday night line-up included the Road Hammers, Jon Pardi and Brett Eldridge, followed by San Cisco, Amy Shark and perennial crowd favourite Missy Higgins on Saturday.
Things kicked into gear on Thursday after the Anzac Day service, with 86-year-old country music stalwart Chad Morgan dazzling a packed crowd at the Winton Town Hall.
