Council wishes to advise that some residents of Portland may experience low water pressure after a failure of a Pressure Reducing Valve.
On Saturday 27 April 2019 the failure of a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) in Portland resulted in a series of burst water mains due to the substantial increase in pressure. To overcome this issue Council has reconfigured the network to reduce further damage from increased pressure until the PRV can be replaced.
This reconfiguration will effect some residents of Portland who, during this period will receive low pressure.
If you are experiencing low water pressure please contact Council. Your details will be used to determine those effected and have input into the development of a strategy to prevent similar issues in the future.
The timing of the repair is subject to the availability and delivery times for the new equipment. The estimated timeframe is 2-3 weeks but is subject to confirmation.
Council apologizes for any inconvenience and is working to have this resolved as quickly as possible and will continue to keep residents up to date on the expected completion of these works.
