Family fun at expanded playground

The expanded playground now includes a bouldering unit and climbing net for older children, with realigned fencing to keep the smaller ones safe.

The works have also included the installation of organic and synthetic soft-fall material, landscaping and a new concrete pathway.

Part of AlburyCity’s riverside parks improvement program, the work was partly funded by the NSW Government’s Restart NSW Regional Growth, Environment and Tourism Fund.

AlburyCity Councillor David Thurley said it was great news for the thousands of families who use the park.

“It’s vitally important that we have great places for children to play while mums and dads can relax, knowing the children are in a safe, healthy and active environment,” he said.

“Coupled with the redevelopment of the Foresters Grove Play Space in Lavington – which is due to open on the second of June – we now have even better, modern playgrounds for local families at key locations in the city.”

The Member for Albury, Justin Clancy, said the government was delighted to have supported the project.

“The expanded play space has a wealth of activities to keep kids active and healthy and the addition of the climbing structures will provide lots of entertainment for older children, while the existing equipment provides hours of fun for the younger ones,” he said.

“There are few things more important than investing in local families and I look forward to seeing children enjoying this fantastic space for generations to come.”

The play space attracts more than 100,000 visitors a year and includes a flying fox, a bird’s nest swing, a sand pit and much more.
