Pet owners can keep their furry friends safe with Fairfield City Council offering free microchipping days.
Council is offering free microchipping for cats and dogs to the first 100 local residents who make a booking.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said microchipping was an important service for responsible pet owners.
“Microchipping your pet dog or cat is a legal requirement under the Companion Animals Act, but more importantly it also ensures that any lost or missing pets can be easily identified and reunited with their owners,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Pets are an important part of local families and we know how heartbreaking it can be when they go missing.
“Microchipping can help them be reunited with families when a vet, animal shelter or council scans the chip to identify owner details.
“I encourage all residents to have their pet microchipped and registered and to take advantage of our free days.”
