The NSW State Coroner’s inquest into the tragic death of Ryan Teasdale is being held today, 1 May 2019.
Since the tragic events of 16 March 2017, Council has worked with NSW Police, and subsequently the Crown Solicitor’s Office, to provide information regarding the history of Riley Park and Council’s approach to managing stormwater infrastructure across the City.
Wollongong City Council Lord Mayor Cr Gordon Bradbery AM said: “Council anticipates the Coroner will make recommendations to assist Local Government’s work to prevent such tragedies occurring in the future both here and across the state.
“The upcoming inquest is a sad reminder of the tragic passing of Ryan Teasdale. Council again extends its deepest sympathy to his family and friends.”
