Gannawarra Shire Council has welcomed the recent announcement that the Federal Government will provide $589,500 towards the replacement of the Appin South Bridge.
The bridge, located along Appin South Road and spans the Loddon River, was one of 18 projects in Victoria to receive support from Round Four of the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program.
“The Appin South Bridge is a major infrastructure asset, as it provides vehicle access to the Loddon Valley Highway for both residents and key services,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“This is the third bridge replacement project within the Gannawarra to benefit from the program, with Council previously successfully applying for funding to assist with the replacement of Wells Bridge at Benjeroop and current works at Sampson’s Bridge.”
Stage one of the Appin South Bridge forms part of Council’s $10.567 million Capital Works program outlined in the 2019/2020 Proposed Budget.
