Baw Baw Shire Council is seeking community feedback to help shape its Public Art Policy.
Public art refers to any artwork which has been designed and created for people to experience in the public realm. It can include all forms of visual art, literature or performance, both permanent or temporary.
The draft policy aims to provide a clear framework for the management of future public arts in Baw Baw Shire including creation, acquisition, selection, management, maintenance and funding of public art to maximise community benefit.
There are several benefits for investing in public art, including:
Building community pride and identity, Inspiring community and civic participation, Creating a culture of inclusion, Contributing to the local economy, and Promoting health and wellbeing.Once adopted, the policy will replace the existing policy endorsed in 2007.
This consultation opportunity is open until 5.00pm Monday 20 May.

Once feedback has closed, Council Officers will consolidate comments and consider all submissions to assist in making further recommendations to Council.
