A free talk tailored to meet the needs of our community’s Rainbow families and to discuss their legal rights will be held in Campbelltown later this month.
In the lead up to Pride Month, LGBTQI+ families are invited to attend the Let’s Talk Legal session to receive an overview of key aspects of Family Law including parentage, parenting and donor arrangements, child support and separation.
The talk will also discuss the importance of having a legal Will that is appropriate to individual circumstances and includes advice about naming guardians for children and ensuring the person, rather than the state’s laws, decides how assets and property will be distributed in the event of death.
Pride Month has been held in June each year since 1970 to raise awareness, improve society’s attitudes towards the LGBTQI+ community and encourage inclusiveness.
The session is part of a series of free talks presented by Macarthur Legal Centre’s qualified staff in partnership with Campbelltown City Library.
In 2017, Campbelltown Library Services won the LIAC Centre for Excellence Award from the Law and Justice Foundation for the Let’s Talk Legal program.
The talk will be held at Campbelltown’s HJ Daley Library 6pm to 7.30pm, Thursday 30 May.
