Generations Connect Through Outdoor Adventure Series
City of Rockingham 7 May 2019

The Outdoor Adventure Series involved young people aged 12–24 participating in yoga in Rockingham, kayaking at Palm Beach and bushwalking at Point Peron, alongside seniors aged 60 and over. The series was held to break down barriers and bring different generations together in a safe environment.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said it was wonderful to see how friendships had developed between the different generations during the Outdoor Adventure Series.   "The City’s Outdoor Adventure Series was a huge success with young people and senior residents taking the time to build positive lasting connections," Mayor Sammels said.   "Each activity was held with the goal of ultimately building a connected and active community. Those who took part shared stories with each other during the activities, with many participants finding out they actually had quite a lot in common with their counterparts.   "On behalf of the City I thank all participants for making the Outdoor Adventure Series such a fantastic experience for one another."   The City’s Outdoor Adventure Series was held from Tuesday 16 April to Friday 19 April 2019.
