Council represented with distinction in Japan Marathon

Two runners from the Northern Beaches have returned from Japan after competing in the 2019 Senshu International City Marathon.
Responding to an expression of interest on Council’s website, Natalie Edwards and Felicity Douglas battled mental and physical exhaustion before completing the gruelling 42.2km course.
“It was very cold compared to back home in Manly, but it was an amazing experience.
“Once I saw Council was seeking runners to take part and I was lucky enough to be selected after meeting the criteria, I started my block of training.
“My main aim was to finish – I’ve done a few marathons in my time, but this one was amazing, the Japanese love marathons. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience and also a huge honour to represent Northern Beaches Council in an international sporting event,” Mrs Edwards said.
Felicity Douglas summed up her sporting and cultural experience as “fun and well organised.”
The women were both chosen to compete after two spots were made available thanks to Council’s friendship with the Tadaoka Town government in Osaka.
