CPAC shaping up to be a record year

We are only five months into the year and already Cessnock’s Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) has experienced an outstanding response from the community with the 2019 season program.

It has been a bumper start with a number of sell out shows including, Marina Prior & David Hobson ‘The 2 of Us’, ‘The Gospel According to Paul’, ‘Menopause the Musical’ and back by popular demand Anh Do: ‘The Happiest Refugee Live’. Ian Moss ‘The 2019 National Solo Intimate and Acoustic Regional Tour’ saw an almost sell out theatre of 399 people.

CPAC isn’t just for adults. The children’s performance ‘The Gruffalo’ delivered a magical experience for local kids and was that popular two performances were held. For those youngsters looking to be on the stage, Hunter Drama is delivering drama classes from CPAC working with approximately 45 local young people rehearsing for their upcoming performance ‘Madagascar Jr’.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said CPAC brings an important service to the community.

“CPAC continues to deliver performances and culture residents would have once had to drive to Sydney or Newcastle to experience. Cessnock continues to draw in incredible performers and touring companies who recognise the amazing artistic culture Cessnock offers.”

No need to travel to Melbourne to experience the internationally recognised ‘Melbourne Comedy Festival’.CPAC will be hosting performances from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow and also on the program in coming months includes Waist Watchers the Musical! My Brilliant Divorce and Echoes of Pink Floyd.

Mayor Pynsent encouraged everyone to get out to see the shows on offer on their door step.

“There is something for everyone, if you feel unsure about what you should see the friendly staff at CPAC would be more than happy to make recommendations.”

The 2019 season will continue to pack a punch with tickets selling fast for ‘Leaving Jackson: The Johnny Cash & June Carter Show’. Preparations have commenced for Spring Awakening 2019 after last year’s unfortunate cancellation due to wet weather. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Performances for the 2020 season are already being confirmed, for more information on the 2019 CPAC Season visit www.cessnockperformingartscentre.com.au/shows.
