Cessnock City Council has commenced the process of reviewing Council’s Waste Management Strategy 2014-2019 and are currently working on preparing the next strategy for 2020-2024. As part of this review Council wants to hear from the community.
Residents are being encouraged to complete a short survey during the month of May either by completing the on-line survey or hard copy and returning to the Council Administration Building.
The survey aims to gather information on the services Council provides around five key areas:
Bulky waste services – (vouchers or kerbside pickup) Cessnock Waste Management Centre Illegal dumping Food in the garden organics bin Household waste collectionResidents can also attend drop-in sessions to ask questions. The next drop -in sessions are on Tuesday 21 May at the following locations:
11am to 1pm Branxton Community Hall 4 to 6pm Kurri Kurri LibraryCouncil’s Environment and Waste Services Manager, Michael Alexander said this is an opportunity for residents to share ideas, suggestions and provide feedback.
“This is a unique opportunity to get your questions answered and have input into the next five year strategy. Managing our waste is both complex, emotive and heavily regulated and the service Council provides must adapt to meet those challenges. We want the community to have the best service available and we need to know what elements they believe will deliver this.”
