Author Talk and Masterclass with Jaye Ford and Fiona McArthur

Readers and budding writers are in for a treat at Kurri Kurri Library on Saturday 18 May. Bestselling Australian authors Jaye Ford and Fiona McArthur will talk about their journey as writers and careers as authors.

Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters is encouraging locals to come along and enjoy this fabulous and free author talk and Masterclass.

“Jaye and Fiona are acclaimed multi-published Australian authors. Whether you are looking to send to publishers or just enjoy writing as a hobby, their author talk and Masterclass are a way of sharing the art of writing and love of the written word.”

Jaye Ford started a career in the media as a cadet journalist in radio, going on to work in print and television, in both news and sport. Jaye then left the media and ran her own public relations consultancy.

When Jaye isn’t writing crime, she’s penning women’s fiction as Janette Paul. Her first novel under that name, ‘Just Breathe’, was released in 2013 after her second thriller (‘Scared Yet?’) became a bestselling digital title.

In her other life from writing, as a wife, Mum and Grand Mum, Fiona McArthur worked as a midwife hence the medical themes that recur in her books. Her focus in writing now is with contemporary medical drama, the wonderful friendships and the intergenerational rapport between her female lead characters.

Big rural fiction books are very dear to her heart because she admires our outback pioneers of the past and present and the emergency and medical staff who care for them.

“Crime, Romance and a Masterclass on Getting It Done” will follow the talk. This writing Masterclass with Jaye and Fiona will look at unlocking some of the techniques essential to all writers. Learn about creating characters, working up a plot, building tension, and how to start and finish your story. Using the experience of more than 50 books between them, Jaye and Fiona will also discuss tips and techniques for maintaining your focus and getting to the end.

10.30-11.30am            Author talk. 12.30-2.30pm              Crime, Romance and a Masterclass on Getting it Done.

Both the author talk and Masterclass are FREE events.
