Message from the Mayor - Easter 2019
City of Rockingham 10 May 2019

While it is a wonderful time to connect with family and friends, the large number of people on the road means we all need to take extra care when travelling at Easter. Whether you are off on a short trip around the corner, or embarking on a journey across the State, we all need to take steps to ensure we arrive at our destination safe and sound.   Everyone is responsible for road safety so please remember the basics. Buckle up, obey the speed limit, be tolerant and courteous to other drivers, take breaks if you’re tired and avoid using your mobile phone when behind the wheel. If you drink alcohol make sure to plan ahead and have someone else do the driving. And remember, double demerits are in place throughout the Easter break from Thursday 18 April through to Monday 22 April 2019 inclusive.   As you relax over the Easter break please spare a thought for the hardworking fire, ambulance and police services who will be working hard to keep us safe. This time of the year can be notoriously busy for all the wrong reasons, so let’s do our part to make sure their Easter is a quiet one.     On behalf of my fellow councilors and all staff at the City of Rockingham, I would like to wish everyone in the community a safe and enjoyable Easter.

-Barry Sammels, Mayor
