Shape Your Future Youth Careers Expo
City of Rockingham 10 May 2019

The expo, which will be held at the Gary Holland Community Centre from 10am to 1pm as part of Youth Careers Week, is focused on providing support for young people who are looking for work or those who might need help to reach their career goals.

Young people who attend will get the chance to meet employers and find employment opportunities on a jobs board, learn about the variety of career and study options available, and attend employability workshops that are designed to boost their skillsets.

More than 60 stallholders will be present at the event and young people will be able to directly apply for jobs at the expo. There will also be a range of interactive displays, giveaways and a free sausage sizzle.

Mayor Barry Sammels said the Shape Your Future Youth Careers Expo would assist young people in their hunt for employment.

"The Shape Your Future Youth Careers Expo is a free event that will give young people in the City a chance to engage directly with potential employers," Mayor Sammels said.

"Youth unemployment is a pressing issue facing many communities across Australia. Young people are the future of our workforce so it is vital we are able to provide them with opportunities like this expo to help them enter the workforce."

Prior to the expo, the City will also be holding free employability workshops on 18 and 19 February for young people looking to sharpen up their resumes or attend an interview clinic.

On Monday 18 February there will also be a Parents and Career Coaches workshop for parents looking to support a young person in their hunt to find work.
