Australia Day 2019 Celebrations
City of Rockingham 10 May 2019

The City’s annual Australia Day celebration starts at 5pm and will feature live performances from Chris Gibbs Band, 2018 Breakthrough Music Competition Finalists, Akwaaba Drumming Circle and other exciting local talent.

West Oz Wildlife will entertain the crowds with a selection of native Australian animals while there will also be free children’s activities, amusement rides and food vendors. A spectacular fireworks display at 8.30pm will cap off Australia Day celebrations.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged residents to join in the Australia Day Celebrations.

“The City’s Australia Day Celebration at Churchill Park is one of our most popular annual events and has been held for many years,” Mayor Sammels said.

“In addition to celebrating Australia Day at the foreshore, the City is also proud to conduct its annual Australia Day ceremony at the City’s administration building in the morning. Up to 70 new Australians will be welcomed during a citizenship ceremony while the winners of the Community Citizen of the Year Awards will also be announced.”

Additional parking for the celebration at the foreshore will be available at the Village Green from 4pm – 9pm. The City has also arranged for Transperth to provide extended services for bus route 555 between Rockingham Train Station and Rockingham Beach.

The 555 bus route will be extended to 9.30pm, operating on a 15 minute frequency to help spectators get to and from the foreshore.

The City also gratefully acknowledges support from event sponsors Lotterywest, Media Engine, AHG Rockingham, Rockingham Mazda, Weekend Courier and Total Kooling Solutions.
