Road Ribbon for Road Safety Campaign

A community-based initiative, the Road Ribbon for Road Safety campaign encourages people to take care on the roads and promote road safety messages to their friends, family and colleagues to help reduce road trauma. It is aligned to Towards Zero, WA’s Road Safety Strategy 2008–2020. 

This year the launch of the campaign will coincide with the United Nations World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged residents to join in the campaign and be cautious on the road over the Christmas holiday period.

"The Christmas and New Year break is an especially busy time on our roads and motorists should take extra care when travelling during the festive season," Mayor Sammels said.

"We believe the only acceptable road toll is zero, which is why we encourage residents to get behind the Road Ribbon for Road Safety campaign and raise awareness of road safety with family and friends.

"By working together we can ensure everyone stays safe on our roads this summer and gets to enjoy Christmas with loved ones."

Residents can help raise awareness of road safety by wearing a road ribbon. They are available free of charge from the City of Rockingham Administration Building and the City’s libraries.
