City Launches First RECHARGE Point
City of Rockingham 10 May 2019

A first of its kind in the City, the recharge point will eventually form part of a network of charging stations across Rockingham that allows users of alternative forms of transport, like mobility scooters, to recharge their batteries at various locations.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the recharge point would provide a boost to members at the Autumn Centre who use alternative modes of transport to travel.

"The new recharge point at the Autumn Centre will give members peace of mind that they can charge their batteries and get home safely again," Mayor Sammels said.

"It will also give other residents who may not have been able to visit the Autumn Centre due to transport issues, the opportunity to join in the range of fantastic activities, programs and support groups the centre has to offer.

"Not only is the recharge point great for providing confidence to the seniors who use it, we hope it will also encourage more Autumn Centre members to embrace sustainable forms of electric transport that are more environmentally friendly."

The RECHARGE Scheme provides a national database of locations where electric mobility scooter users can safely charge their mobility vehicles.
