Reminiscing and Life Story Books Workshops
City of Rockingham 10 May 2019

Running from 10am–12pm and 1pm–3pm, the free workshops will be facilitated by Alzheimer’s WA and are designed to help participants create a life story book of their own to share with family and friends. Life story books are regarded as a wonderful way to bring back memories for people living with dementia.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged residents who were interested in the workshops to secure their booking as spaces are limited.

"Participants in the workshops will learn about the value of creating a life story through reminiscing with people who live with dementia," Mayor Sammels said.

"The books can be shared with family and friends and offer a wonderful opportunity to bring back memories for people living with dementia.

"Caregivers may also learn some useful information about the individual they are caring for, so I encourage residents to sign up for the workshops as soon as they can because spaces are limited."

The City has been a World Health Organisation Age-Friendly Community Global Member since 2012 and has also made a commitment through the Seniors Strategy 2017-2021 to become more dementia friendly.

The workshops are only for people living with dementia and their carers.
