Locals are encouraged to come and get cre-ART-ive at the Rockingham Arts Centre from 9am to 1pm, with free face painting, pop-stick art, party hats and birthday card making all available.
Art enthusiasts can also bring along a t-shirt or cloth bag to make their own screen print and take part in an interactive drum circle at 10am.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the Rockingham Arts Centre had grown to be an inspirational source of creativity over the past five years.
“Since the facility underwent a $1.2 million facelift in 2013 its significance to local artists has continued to grow every year,” Mayor Sammels said.
“We are fortunate to have a number of talented artists living in our community and the Rockingham Arts Centre has helped facilitate their outstanding work.
“I encourage all art lovers and residents in general to join in the fun during the open day at the Rockingham Arts Centre.” The open day on 26 August will be presented in partnership with the Friends of the Rockingham Arts Centre, Rockingham Regional Arts Inc. and Kent Street Printmakers.
For more information about the open day or for information about hiring spaces, contact the Rockingham Arts Centre on 9527 0734 between 10am - 3pm, Monday to Friday or email the City.
