Baldivis Enclosed Dog Park Now Open

Located at Acrasia Road Reserve, otherwise known as Barri Barri Park in Baldivis, the new enclosed off-leash dog exercise area offers the community a chance to exercise their dogs in a safe, accessible area. Mayor Barry Sammels said the new Baldivis Enclosed Dog Park would be a welcome addition to the community, with the previous opening of the City’s first enclosed dog park on Bayview Reserve in 2016 already proving to be a big hit.

“The Baldivis Enclosed Dog Park is a fantastic new facility that features two separate enclosures separated by a solid fence; one will be for all dogs and the other will be for small dogs only,” Mayor Sammels said.

“Other key features of the dog park include two nature-based agility nodes including equipment such as recycled logs and stumps.”      

At the park there is also a large open off-leash area for dogs that will respond to their owner’s commands.

“Importantly, dogs on or off a lead are prohibited from being on the northern end of the reserve where the playground, tennis court and seating areas are located,” Mayor Sammels said.

“A walkway has been installed on the western side of the reserve to enable residents entering from the north to walk their dogs on lead to get to the dog exercise areas. Owners are reminded that they are responsible for their dogs actions at all times, either on or off a lead.”  

City of Rockingham Rangers will also conduct regular patrols at the park, with users urged to observe signposted restrictions.

Owners are also reminded that all dogs over the age of three months are required to be registered under the City’s Local Laws; owners risk a fine of up to $200 for an unregistered dog.

The City also gratefully acknowledges support from the Stronger Communities Funding Programme, which provided a $20,000 grant for the project. 

Note: Owners are politely reminded to pick up after their dog.
