Saturday, May 25, 2019, 9am – 2:30pm National Archaeology Week aims to increase public awareness of Australian archaeology and promotes the importance of protecting Australia’s unique archaeological heritage. Archaeologists from the University of Queensland with the Friends of Toowong Cemetery will continue to excavate and uncover buried monuments in Toowong Cemetery. Discovered monuments are pieced back together and where we can identify them, they are recorded in our historical records. There will be a scavenger hunt, grave rubbings and an ‘adventure pit’ for those that can squeeze into the site.
