Coffs locals are invited to come together for a Biggest Morning Tea at Coffs Harbour City Council on Thursday, May 23, to raise awareness and be part of the fight against cancer.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is one of the Cancer Council’s leading fundraising events and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia.

Each year more than 11,000 Australians gather their friends, family or workmates, share a cuppa and tasty treats, and give support to those affected by cancer by raising funds for cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support services.

“Probably everyone in the Coffs community has been affected by cancer,” said Coffs Harbour Mayor, Councillor Denise Knight.

“It may be you yourself, it may be a relative or it may be a friend. I doubt if any of us has been untouched by this terrible disease.

“But every year research uncovers new drugs, new approaches and new treatments and it’s vitally important that life-saving research is supported until cancer becomes consigned to the history books.

“Most importantly – and speaking as a survivor myself – we need to remember that with research comes life.

“So please come along on the 23rd and support this vital cause. Everyone is welcome.”

Council’s Biggest Morning Tea will be held in the Foyer of the Customer Service Centre on the corner of Coff and Castle Streets on May 23 from 10am.
