New toilet facilities at Apex Park, Cohuna are now open for residents and visitors to use.
The new facility was opened to the public on Friday, 10 May, marking the completion of four months of work at one of Cohuna’s popular park areas.
“The toilet upgrade forms part of the Cohuna Waterfront Masterplans, which identifies exciting improvements to Apex Park and surrounding areas in the future,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“The new building contains weathered roof trusses, which mirror the architectural elements featured at the Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre. It is hoped this design feature will appear in future infrastructure projects adjacent to Gunbower Creek at Cohuna.”
Local builder, OT McLoughlan Construction was awarded the contract to construct the new amenities, with the former toilets demolished last week.
The $180,000 project was part of Council’s $11.066 million Capital Works program outlined in the 2018/19 Budget.
“Council thanks the community for their patience as these works occurred and looks forward to future improvements to facilities around the Gunbower Creek precinct at Cohuna,” Mayor Learmonth said.
