Banner poles proposed at Miller Park, Branxton

Cessnock City Council is asking the community for feedback on proposed location for the installation of three banner poles at Miller Park, Branxton. Council received $19,046 in grant funding from the Department of Veteran Affairs to install new banner poles in the Cessnock Local Government Area.  

Following community consultation in January 2019 it was determined poles would be installed in Maybury Peace Park, Weston and along the New England Highway, Greta. In consideration of community feedback collected it was determined Wollombi was not a suitable location for the installation of banner poles and the location at Miller Park, Branxton has now been identified.  The exact location selected for the installation of the three poles is at the edge of the park, along Maitland Street.

This location was selected as banners will be easily seen from the roadway and it aligns with the Miller Park Masterplan. The poles will be used to display Armistice Day banners for years to come and other banners that mark important occasions including ANZAC Day.

Council will also utilise these poles to hang banners that promote community events such as Seniors Festival and NAIDOC Week.  The poles will also be available to hire for community groups.

All feedback must be received by Tuesday 11 June 2019.
