Sixty-four rescue cats and dogs found their new fur-ever homes at Council’s adoption day on Saturday.
The fourth Operation Fur-ever Home, held at Cannon Park, saw about 80 cats and dogs from eight rehoming organisations available for adoption.
Councillor Jessie Richardson said more than 350 cats and dogs have found new homes over the past four events.
“Unfortunately, not all pet owners are responsible which means, for whatever reason, cats and dogs are abandoned or surrendered to Council and the rehoming groups in the region,” Cr Richardson said.
“These pets are lovingly fostered by volunteers until new owners can be found.
“Operation Fur-ever Home is a great way for Council to support the efforts of these groups by bringing potential pets and pet owners together in one location.”
Operation Fur-ever Home is just one of the initiatives Council funds from pet registration fees.
