In an effort to take the confusion out of the procurement process, including tendering to providing quotes, Council has launched “Doing Business with Council,” a guide that gives you all you need to know about being a Council supplier.
As part of the launch Council is holding a session on Wednesday 29 May 2019 4:30pm to 6:30pm at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC), where local businesses are invited to come along to a presentation and networking event. This is a great opportunity to learn about being a local government supplier and what resources are available for local businesses to navigate partnering with council.
Council provides a huge range of services to the community, including but not limited to; building roads, bridges, to providing our community with library services or operating the Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre. Around $24 million worth of goods and services are acquired by Council via publicly listed tenders and quotes.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent is excited about this evolution in the relationship between Council and the business community.
“We are always looking at ways of improving our services. We often need to engage external suppliers to ensure we’re fulfilling our responsibilities. We’re proud to present you with this guide that will provide a better understanding of how to do business with Council. It covers tenders, quotations, safety, risk and environmental management. If you need more information our Finance team are happy to assist.”
