Join Bairnsdale Library for a live stream event of the National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) at 11am on Wednesday May 22.
Our storyteller, Jane Wembridge has been with Bairnsdale Library for more than 13 years. Jane will read Alpacas with Maracas written and illustrated by Matt Cosgrove and published by Koala Books.
Each year NSS takes place nationally with more than 1 million participants last year at 8,255 locations.
Senior Library Programs Officer Jane Wembridge said Council will be live streaming the National Simultaneous Storytime event on our Facebook page ‘eastgippyshire.’
“It’s exciting for our library to be able to share National Simultaneous Storytime with a wider audience at home or school who can watch the live event via Facebook,” Ms Wembridge said.
“Children from Bairnsdale Primary School will be at the storytime event and we hope that children and families will join in the fun from home on the live stream.”
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
Now in its 19th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.
