A Festival of Solar to explore the latest opportunities in residential solar power, electric vehicles, battery banks and future power options is being held in Coffs Harbour at the Showground on Saturday, June 1.

“One of the fun features will be a show and shine with a difference as we’re inviting all local and regional Electric Vehicle owners and enthusiasts to head along for the ‘Coffs Coast EV Show and Shine’,” said Andrew Davis, Council’s Sustainable Living and Community Programs Coordinator.

The event is a partnership between Council and the Coffs Coast Regional Science Hub, part of ‘Inspiring Australia’ – a collaborative initiative of the Australian and State governments and the University of Sydney to develop influential networks that connect science and engineering researchers to big audiences.

“Put simply, it’s all about connecting science and scientists to the broader community to understand the relevance of science and ongoing research in everyday life,” added Mr Davis. “From a supercharged solar highway to DIY electric bikes, driverless buses, onsite battery storage and the latest in integrated solar panels for residential households, the Festival of Solar will open up the exciting and transformative landscape of renewable energy technologies.

“The Festival of Solar will be a dynamic day of discovery, inspiration and connection to set residents and the Coffs Coast on the road to a sustainable future.”

Visitors will be able to delve into the real-life experiences of locals who are living the change, as well as hear from local scientists and industry specialists about the science of energy innovation, how it works and the options available for community participation now and into the future.

Plus, you can ask all your specific questions about solar technologies one-on-one at a ‘speed date a solar expert’ session. Alternatively, just drop in for the DIY electric bike demo and see some of the latest off-the-shelf models.

There will also be short, Ted Talk-style Q&A sessions covering everything from tariffs, technology and newest system features, to next level renewable, electric vehicles, batteries and how to get the most out of your solar.

The Festival of Solar is a family-friendly event and will be held at the Norm Jordan Pavilion, Coffs Harbour Showgrounds, from 10am-2pm on June 1 2019. Entry is FREE. Refreshments will be available.
