I am pleased to announce that at the Special Council Meeting held on 9 May 2019, Mr John Giorgi, JP was formally appointed to the permanent position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a period of three (3) years, effective from 15 May 2019.
As you may be aware, Mr Giorgi has been Acting CEO since June 2018.
The appointment will allow Mr Giorgi to continue to progress the many important projects that have been commenced, in particular the organisational review, and to lead the Town's streamlined Administration in its provision of efficient and effective service delivery for ratepayers and residents.
Mr Giorgi was selected from a strong field of well qualified and experienced candidates, and was the outstanding applicant. His extensive local government knowledge and experience, together with his performance whilst Acting CEO is acknowledged and commended by the Council.
Mr Giorgi has expressed his enthusiasm for continuing in the role and progressing a number of important projects for the Town, including implementing the new organisational structure and cultural change, a fiscally prudent budget for 2019-2020, building better relationships, and implementing the Council's mandate of 'People First'.
I and my fellow Councillors congratulate Mr Giorgi on his appointment, and look forward to continuing to working with him and the Administration for the betterment of the Town of Cambridge.
