Campbelltown Mayor George Brticevic and ice skaters Sophie Barrah and Emily Imber prepare for Winterland which will be held at Koshigaya Park in July.

Sydney’s largest open-air ice rink, a giant snow dome with real snow and a Star of the Show ferris wheel are some of the magical attractions families can enjoy when Winterland returns to Campbelltown in an even bigger format for the July school holidays.

The inaugural alpine-themed festival proved to be so popular with the thousands of visitors who enjoyed the celebration at Koshigaya Park last year that Council has ensured the magical winter event will return for 2019.

“We are excited to host Winterland in Campbelltown and provide a unique opportunity for our community to enjoy,” said Mayor George Brticevic.

“Winterland was a successful drawcard last year, attracting visitors to our city and I have no doubt that it will continue to delight with the exciting new attractions on offer for the whole family,’’ Cr Brticevic said.

Entry to Winterland is free with ice rink tickets and ride coupons available for purchase online in early June.

This year’s event features two ice skating rinks including a dedicated children’s rink for younger skaters, a large ice slide, an Alpine winter market, a European winter food village and fairy lights scattered through the trees to create an Alpine mood.

Visitors can also enjoy a range of daily entertainment, free activities for the children and amusement rides including dodgem cars and bungee jumping.

The return of Winterland comes after Council signed contracts in April this year with professional ice skating company Stars on Ice and amusement ride firm, Joylands to deliver the show in a bigger and expanded format.

Winterland 2019 will open daily from 10am to 10pm, from Saturday 6 July to Sunday 21 July in Koshigaya Park, Campbelltown.

Ice rink session tickets are priced from $12 to $22 per session and a packet of 30 ride coupons are priced at $25 with discounts available online.
