A new publication is providing details regarding what services and support is available during the ongoing dry conditions and other issues that are impacting local farming, small businesses and the wider community.
The first edition of Gannawarra Cares is being distributed widely, and will start to appear in community newsletters, social media, at rural supply networks and other outlets across the Gannawarra Shire.
“It is important that as a community, we unite and support each other during this time. Looking out for others is one of our community’s great strengths,” Gannawarra Shire Council Deputy Mayor, Cr Charlie Gillingham said.
“The monthly newsletter will ensure that the community is kept updated on funding opportunities, workshops and training, community events and varied support services that are available.”
Scheduled to be produced monthly, Gannawarra Cares has been developed by the Gannawarra Resilience Committee, which includes representatives from 21 agencies, including Gannawarra Shire Council, health and community support providers, the agricultural sector and emergency services.
The debut edition features details on the Gannawarra Giving Account, funding opportunities and support services.
“I encourage you to connect with those around you and to reach out to your community and our local services for assistance and support as needed,” Cr Gillingham said.
