New laws introduced on 1 July 2018 made it a legal requirement for all dogs and cats to be microchipped by 12 weeks of age, or at the point of sale. This includes all dogs and cats, including those that were born before 1 July 2018.

Currently, approximately 700 dogs across our region are still not microchipped. As a gentle warning, from 1 July 2019 an audit will be conducted on dogs and cats that are not microchipped, and fines will be issued to owners that are not compliant.

Please do not let this happen, be responsible and get your pet microchipped.
