The Council has purchased a street sweeper under its plant replacement and renewal program.
Street sweeping was previously done with hired equipment. The new sweeper travels faster between jobs and is capable of cleaning footpaths, kerbs and channels. It has a suction hose that allows further reach and is more efficient in areas with obstructions.
The adjustable fan speed means that the sweeper can operate quietly early in the morning, extending the range of operational hours.
Mayor, Cr Scott Upston said this purchase will expand the capacity of the Council’s street sweeping operations.
“This new street sweeper will enable us to cover a greater area and will improve our efficiencies in keeping the Rural City clean,” said Cr Upston.
