To prepare for the second stage of works, the intersection of Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive will close for a weekend, from 7pm Friday 7 June to 5am Monday 10 June 2019.

This closure is to allow work crews to safely relocate all barriers and replace the existing traffic signals with a temporary roundabout configuration.

Changes for road users and pedestrians

Works will be undertaken 24/7 - starting 7pm Friday finishing Monday 5am. Bus routes 390T, 390F, 391T, 391F, 467T and 468T will be impacted by the weekend closure. More information will be available closer to the weekend closure by visiting https://project.mainroads.wa.gov.au/home/ or https://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/ Right turn access between Joondalup Drive and St Stephens Crescent will be closed permanently. This change is necessary for safety reasons.  Access to Drovers business precinct will be via Joondalup Drive or Wanneroo Road, but egress will only be provided to the west along Joondalup Drive. The week leading up to the weekend closure may include some night works to install new barriers along Joondalup Drive in between Burns Beach Road roundabout and Wanneroo Road.

Detours will be in place to direct traffic around the intersection. Vehicles heading east/west to use Ocean Reef Road or Neerabup Drive. Vehicles heading north/south to use Mitchell Freeway or Pinjar Road. There will be minor changes to cyclist and pedestrian detours through the area. Stage Two Works

The second stage of works will commence following the reopening of the Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive intersection on Monday 10 June 2019.

The traffic signals will no longer be in place and vehicles will be using a temporary roundabout. Vehicles will also be pushed to the outside of Joondalup Drive while works are undertaken in the middle of the road.

Stage Two will focus on building the new bridge and associated works at the intersection; specific work items include:

Bridge and ramp construction The ramps will be constructed in the middle of Joondalup Drive. They will be 260m long on the west side of the intersection and 135m long on the east side Bridge beams, piers and noise wall installation New pavements and asphalt

Crews will be working within the blue lines and vehicles will be driving in between the red and blue lines.

Changes for road users and pedestrians

Please be aware of the change in traffic conditions, including a new temporary roundabout at the Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive intersection instead of traffic lights. Right turn access between Drovers Place and Joondalup Drive will be permanently closed. Access to Drovers will be via Joondalup Drive (left turn only) and Wanneroo Road. There will be minor changes to cyclist and pedestrian detours through the area. Bus stops will remain in the same locations as they are at present, except for stops along St Stephens Crescent. Visit Transperth or Mainroads WA closer to the works starting for more information. Crews will be undertaking work in the middle of Joondalup Drive.  Speed limits will be reduced in some areas. Barriers will remain in place until March 2020.
