A new all-abilities play space may be built in Glenfield Park.Residents and community members are invited to have their say on a new all-abilities and inclusive play space in Glenfield and to share their ideas about other recreation spaces they would like to see built in the growing suburb.
Council will host two community consultation sessions at Glenfield Park this week to understand how people currently use the area, as well as any ideas for improvement to support the current and future communities.
The Glenfield Precinct is being transformed as part of the NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s Glenfield to Macarthur Urban Renewal Corridor plan.
Council has received funding through the Glenfield Precinct Plan’s Priority Support Scheme to upgrade parks and build new community infrastructure on the eastern side of the railway line and the Glenfield Park play space upgrade is a key project at this location.
“Residents have a unique insight into the area and I encourage everyone in the community to ask questions and share their ideas about the current parks and recreation facilities in the Glenfield Precinct and their wish list for the future,’’ said Mayor George Brticevic.
“The workshops are a great opportunity for us to check in with our community and help Glenfield become an even better place for people to live, work, enjoy their free time and spend time with their families and friends,’’ Cr Brticevic said.
Designs for a new play space in the park based on feedback gathered from consultation last year with local schools will also be available at the information sessions.
The Glenfield Park play space at Bougainville Road will feature a double flying fox, giant swing, water play and sculpture play areas and sandstone climbing areas where children of all ages and levels can play together side by side.
This is a partnership project between the Department of Planning and Environment, Variety The Children’s Charity NSW and Council.
The workshops will be held at Glenfield Park from 4pm to 5pm, Wednesday 22 May and 10am to 12pm, Saturday 25 May.
People can also have their say online before Saturday 8 June.
