One of CQs biggest family fun days is back with Beef to Beach 2019!

As part of Livingstone Shire’s official Queensland Day celebrations, thousands of community members are expected to attend the hugely popular free event in Emu Park on Sunday, 2 June from midday to 5pm.

This year’s event offers a great stage programme which includes never before seen children’s entertainers, games, rides, market stalls and a Big Beef BBQ conducted by the Emu Park Swimming Club.

Acting Mayor Nigel Hutton said Council was proud to once again host the event which provides an opportunity for the community to share a sense of pride in being both Australian and a Queenslander.

“Beef to Beach has grown to become one of Central Queensland’s biggest annual community events as a result of the hard work and dedication by Council’s Engagement and Events team and the community organisations who get involved each year,” Cr Hutton said.

“Although residents know how lucky we are to call this beautiful region home, it’s important to reflect on our culture, heritage, people and industry while celebrating Queensland Day.

“Council would like to thank the Queensland Government for its partnership and also our corporate and community sponsors who have supported this wonderful community event.”

Community Development Councillor Jan Kelly said Beef to Beach also fosters a strong community spirit among the region’s residents.

“Every year we see thousands of residents enjoy this event, even travelling from outside the Shire to take part in the festivities. The influx of visitors also benefits businesses in Emu Park,” Cr Kelly said.

Assistant Minister for Education and Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga said she loved the family atmosphere of Beef to Beach while celebrating all things that are great about Central Queensland.

“This links two of the things for which Central Queensland is known – firstly being the Beef Capital of Australia, and of course our unparalleled beaches along the Capricorn Coast and the tourism industry they support,” Mrs Lauga said.

“I’ll be bringing my family down to Bell Park and I would encourage everyone to get out and fully appreciate the things for which we can all be thankful.”

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she welcomed the array of inclusive events held across the State to mark Queensland Day.

“160 years ago Queensland officially separated from New South Wales,” the Premier said.

“And now each year on 6 June we celebrate our State – from the splendid beauty of our environment, to the innovative spirit of our people and our incredible resilience through tough times.

“I hope all Queenslanders will come together to share in this year’s celebrations.”
