Applications are currently open to the community for membership on a new social and affordable housing partnership group in Cardinia Shire.
This group will participate in the implementation of Cardinia Shire Council's Social and Affordable Housing Strategy and Action Plan (2018-2025).
Those with an interest in social and affordable housing are encouraged to apply, including:
Community members People with lived experience of homelessness Housing providers and associations Community and volunteer services Property, building and development sector representativesSuccessful applicants will join the advisory steering group, which will look at ways to support housing diversity and respond to housing needs within the community.
The group will be made up of 13 members including appointed councillor(s) and council staff, and representatives from the community and the private and public sector.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Graeme Moore said that as Cardinia Shire continues to grow rapidly, the local population and number of houses is expected to more than double by 2031.
“Council’s Social and Affordable Housing Strategy and Action Plan and partnership group aims to ensure that our shire includes diverse, high quality, sustainable and affordable housing that is responsive to the needs of a growing and diverse community. I’d encourage community members with an interest in social and affordable housing to submit an expression of interest to join the social and affordable housing partnership group,” he said.
Expressions of interest to join this social and affordable housing partnership group will open 21 May and close at 12pm Tuesday 11 June, 2019.
