Thanks to our volunteers

Posted on May 22, 2019

National Volunteer Week is all about giving back to those who give the most.

So to mark the annual event, Central Highlands Regional Council Mayor Cr Kerry Hayes is asking all residents to take the time to say thanks to a volunteer.

‘According to our recent community satisfaction survey, 42% of our residents currently volunteer in some capacity,’ Cr Hayes said.

‘This week we acknowledge each and every volunteer across the region for their hard work and dedication; those in the emergency services, charities, sport, art and cultural groups, health services, community organisations, schools and everything in between.

‘These unsung heroes strengthen and enrich our communities through their selflessness and they deserve to be celebrated.’

This year the National Volunteer Week theme is ‘Making a world of difference’, a chance to celebrate the immeasurable support volunteers provide.

‘Even just a few hours of volunteer work can make a huge impact,’ Cr Hayes said.

‘Now is a great time for people to think about getting involved and becoming a volunteer in our community.’

National Volunteer week runs until 26 May 2019.
