Parsley Bay Reserve Playground - major upgrade

Parsley Bay Reserve Playground will undergo a major upgrade following community consultation undertaken last year. The design of the new playground incorporates the community feedback and will result in a fun, challenging and inclusive play space that reflects the bush and harbourside location as well as touching on the history of the park.

The works will commence on 13 May 2019 and are expected to be completed in late June 2019, weather permitting. The playground will be closed for use during this time.

The main playground features are:

A challenging elevated ‘bushwalk’ multideck play unit suitable for children 2-10 with structures that have the appearance of wild grass and tree trunkAn inclusive multideck play unit suitable for children 2-10A custom ship named after the Japanese Antarctic expedition ship the ‘Kainan Maru’ that moored in Parsley Bay in May 1911 for all agesA monkey bar climbing unitAn inclusive ‘dolphin’ spring toy as well as a ‘seahorse’ spring toy for younger childrenA challenging balance testing slack line for all ages.An inclusive basket swing as well as toddler and standard swing seats for all agesAn inclusive spinning carousel that can fit two wheelchairs as well as seating for othersThe playground will feature wetpour rubber softfall to provide wheelchair and pram access through the playground.

A footpath will also be constructed from the access road to the playground and connect to the picnic tables nearby. Formal seating, as well as sandstone rocks and blocks for informal seating, will be provided.
