Gladstone CBD to put best foot forward thanks to LGGSP funding

Gladstone’s CBD will receive a fresh new look after more than $1 million ($1.044M) was today allocated to upgrading and improving footpaths around the region’s main centre.
The funding has been allocated under the 2019-21 Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program (LGGSP).
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett welcomed the funding and thanked the Queensland Government for their ongoing support.
“Council continues to advocate for enhancement to our region, and this program is providing priority infrastructure projects,” Councillor Burnett said.
“Infrastructure improvements, such as the CBD footpath renewal have positive impacts not only for residents, but also for the growing tourism industry in the region.
“It is a great example of the Queensland Government and Local Councils working together for the community and future growth.”
Minister for Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs, Hon. Stirling Hinchliffe congratulated the Gladstone Regional Council on its successful project.
“I applaud Council and its initiative in recognising the need for these works as well as securing the funding to help deliver them,” Minister Hinchliffe said.
“This Government has committed to creating employment opportunities and this project will bring growth and jobs to the region.
The $58.56 million 2019-21 Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program is designed to provide funding assistance to support Local Governments to deliver priority infrastructure and essential services that meet the identified needs of their communities.
