If you see trucks driving up and down the beach between Narrabeen Lagoon and Collaroy over the next few weeks don’t be alarmed, it’s part of Council’s maintenance program to improve beach access and amenity along Collaroy-Narrabeen Beach.
Council is excavating sand from the wide section of beach at Narrabeen next to the Narrabeen Lagoon entrance, and transporting it south to spread further along towards Collaroy, where the beach is currently eroded.
This will also reduce the amount of sand available to be washed back into Narrabeen Lagoon entrance and help it to stay open longer.
The works are expected to take approximately two weeks. If you are heading to Collaroy-Narrabeen beach, please exercise caution during this time as large trucks drive sand along the foreshore.
This program adds to the significant excavation of sand to open the lagoon entrance late last year. For more information on how and when Council opens Narrabeen Lagoon visit here.
