Lake Wallace is again experiencing high levels of blue green algae, and a Red Alert has been issued by the NSW Office of Water.
Water sampling of Lake Wallace undertaken this week indicate blue green algae levels have reverted back to Red Alert. Earlier this week after 2 consecutive samples at Amber levels, the Red alert was reduced to Amber. However, the latest samples indicate the algae levels have again risen to Red Alert.
With the presence of blue green algae in the water, Lake Wallace is not suitable for any activities that involve direct contact with the water by humans or animals.
Lake Wallace will remain on Red Alert until 2 consecutive samples indicate blue green algae levels have suitably reduced. Sampling of the Lakes will continue and an updated alert status will be reported when information becomes available.
More information on algae alerts is available from the algal information line maintained by the NSW Office of Water, at 1800 999 457 or the NSW Office of Water web page at www.water.nsw.gov.au.
