Having good bin etiquette is important for all neighbourhoods and avoids the area looking untidy before and after collection day.
Council is calling all young aspiring Maroondah filmmakers, artists and environmentalists to submit a short, two-minute film or poster featuring their tips and reminders for proper bin etiquette and behaviour as part of our
Bin etiquette is an important part of waste management and using Council’s waste services correctly helps to keep neighbours happy and our streets clean and tidy.
Entrants are invited to create and submit a short documentary film no longer than two minutes or a poster to remind and encourage residents to follow proper bin behaviours.
Key messaging to consider when creating your entry:
Place your bin out onto the kerb by 6am of collection day. Once your bin has been collection, please bring it back in within 24 hours. Please don’t overflow bins. Bins that are too heavy can damage the mechanical arm of the collection truck, so try and keep your bin under 40kg. How will you know? It will be very difficult to move! Bin lids should be closed when placed out for collection, so please don’t overfill your bins. If the bin lid is open, this can cause waste to spill out onto the ground., creating litter which can enter our natural environment.Entrants whose film or poster meets all the guidelines and demonstrates the most imaginative, innovative, and engaging strategies and initiatives to encourage and remind residents on better bin behaviours will be deemed the winner of their category.
